Castañer was founded in the year 1927. A successor to a small espadrille workshop that dated back to the year 1776, the workshop was owned by the same family throughout the years until the birth of Rafael Castañer, the first Castañer espadrille maker on record. Therefore, Castañer has been around for virtually 4 centuries.

Castañer has manufactured espadrilles that have been incorporated in the summer collections the most prestigious brands in the world of fashion and luxury like Burberrys, Céline, Charles Jourdan, Christian Dior, Coach, Coco Chanel, DKNY, Girogio Armani, Hermes, Ines de la Fressange, Kate Spade, Polo Ralph Lauren, Stéphane Kelian, and YSL among others.
